Course description

This course will provide information on the definition of predatory publishing, the underlying reasons for its emergence, and how to identify and avoid predatory publishers. Ways of dealing with predatory publishers and changes that can be made in academia to support research integrity will be examined through elements of open science. Content presentation will be carried out in an interactive environment within the framework of the questions given below, under the guidance of the instructor and with the support of the participants.

  • What is predatory publishing?
  • Where do predatory journals feed from?
  • How to identify and avoid predatory journals?
  • Does the current academic incentive and reward structure have an impact on predatory publishing?
  • How can the library support you in identifying predatory journals and choosing the right journal?

  2. Identify the impact of the current academic incentives and reward structure on predatory publishing
  3. Learn how to avoid submitting to predatory publishers
