Course description

During the course, participants will learn:

  • what Open Access entails (e.g. the use of open licences),
  • what local and national guidelines and policies exist (e.g. from funding bodies such as the EU),
  • which Open Access “colours” and paths exist and their respective advantages and disadvantages as well as useful tools (e.g. research using Sherpa Services, DOAJ) and support possibilities (e.g. Open Access publication funds, institutional memberships, transformation contracts),
  • the benefits of Open Access (e.g. free access for readers, easier reusability through Creative Commons licences), and
  • what to watch out for, e.g. black sheep such as predatory publishers.
